| "WTF" indeed! "WTF" is something one would be very likely to say upon first viewing of the 90's children's television program Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers as well as the modern day wrestling program, TNA iMPACT. Of course, "WTF" is not the lone similarity. There's also the lack of continuity, lack of logic, abundance of cardboard/paper thin plywood breakaway walls/buildings, horrible line delivery... ok, you get the point. What I really want to hit, however, is one thing: |
| No, the iMPACT zone is not collecting aluminum cans. No, I'm not even referring to how TNA recycles WCW and WWE storylines and gimmicks just like MMPR recycled Japanese footage. I'm referring to recycling the same shot to the point of ridiculousness. MMPR did it with the entire Megazord initialization and finishing move sequence. TNA does it with crowd shots. |
| There's absolutely nothing wrong with recycling crowd shots... as long as they are not overused, and as long as there aren't any people in them who look or act in a distinct way that will make it blatantly apparent that they are reusing footage. TNA does not seem to grasp these concepts. |
I never really paid much attention until a few weeks ago when I was watching the 7/3 episode of iMPACT. That's when I noticed something familiar in one of those shots where they scan across the crowd as they make asses of themselves. I saw an individual I had seen right here on Andyville as part of Ninja Andy's iMPACT Zone Tard of the Day. I saw "Corky."![]() Now, I understand, a lot of the same people come to every taping, but Corky was wearing the same clothes and doing the same retarded pose he does in the picture Andy took from the 5/22 episode of iMPACT. I needed to take a closer look. That's when I noticed that not only was Corky wearing the same clothes and posed the same, but everyone around him was as well. TNA is recycling crowd shots. How pathetic is that? Can you get any more pathetic? |

That brings me to the 7/10 episode. After the week before, I was actually paying a bit more attention to the crowd shots to see if I could catch them reusing footage again. Naturally, I did. At just over 12 minutes into the show, the same crowd shot with Corky was aired... but this week, they played it backwards. Backwards! Do they think that everyone who watches this show is an idiot? Do they think that people can not tell a clip is being played backwards when it contains people jaw jacking and flailing their arms around? Wow. To further insult the viewers' intelligence, 12 minutes later, they play the same clip, but forwards! I figure the thought process here must be that nobody's going to remember something that aired last month... or last week... or 12 minutes ago! I was able to spot Corky in 3 other shots during this episode (meaning he gets more TV time than most of the X Division), but I think my golden find was 6 minutes into the second hour. I've got him in a tard pose that puts Andy's tard shots to shame. Behold: ![]() Notice how he has his hand and how his head appears to be slightly detached. Now this is a tard shot! Finally, just for the sake of completeness, I must mention that 27 minutes into the second hour, they reused the clip of Excitard that Andy caught on 5/22: ![]() Why must TNA reuse the footage of the most retarded people? Can't they get usable reactions out of normal looking people in the crowd? Are there normal looking people in the crowd? It really makes you think: If these are the shots they are reusing constantly, how bad are the shots that don't get to air? Yikes... |

Oh yeah... I did get off track... uh, let's just say that after this article is up for a bit, it will inspire Kurt Angle to build himself a large robot to vanquish his foes: Olympizord! ...or something equally as lame. I'll leave that as an exercise for the class. TNA: Cross the Line (between silliness and idiocy). |
