Tonight, during the main event of ECW, I fell asleep, only to become slightly coherent during the post-match beatdown. Upon awakening, I was surprised to see that everyone else in the room had fallen asleep as well. Sure, it's commonplace for me to fall asleep during Smackdown and occasionally RAW, but this is the first time I've ever fallen asleep during ECW. I think it really comes down to one factor...
Just seeing Bobby Lashley is yawn inducing. He's like Monty Brown without the crazy "I'm a big cat on crack" personality... or any personality for that matter. Put him in the ring with Big Show, and you have the formula for a prescription strength sleep aid. I'm still slightly under the influence of said sleep aid.
As far as I can tell, his gimmick is supposed to be that he is a soft-spoken powerhouse (judging by his entrance video saying "soft spoken" and the announcers selling him as a powerhouse... any questions?) Damn. Even that description sounds boring. I'm not even completely sure why I'm so insanely bored by Bobby Lashley. He's average in the ring and boring when they actually give him the stick, but that describes a lot of people who don't literally put me to sleep. Perhaps Sandman should just give Lashley the name.
Despite Triple H giving CM Punk the rub on RAW two weeks ago, it appears they are pushing Bobby Lashley as the most likely winner of the Extreme Elimination Chamber. At the end of tonight's show, ECW's last show before December to Dismember, he was the lone recipient of the beatdown from Show, the Bashams, and a 4 months pregnant Test. Normally, the faces involved in the match would have come to his aid in order to show all the competitors as they went off the air, but not this time. (I guess they were watching on a monitor backstage and fell asleep.) Booking 101 would say that since he took the beating, then he wins Sunday. Lets just hope WWE loses the booking 101 book. If they make Bobby Lashley ECW Champion, the only bodies hitting the floor will be the fans at home falling out of their chairs as they go to sleep.
